Wildflower seed mat sowing instructions.
Beware of imitations...
A real Irish wildflower seed mat contains the seeds to grow over 150 seedlings of 24+ varieties of Irish produced native wildflowers.
Sowing indoor : Simply place and firm the seed mat on top of a seed tray filled with moist compost, and then spray water to wet. Germination will start from 3 to 6 weeks. The compost must be weed free as wildflower germinate very slowly
Do not use pure peat moss as it is far to acidic for these seedlings.
As the seed mat contain annual, biennial and perennials species, this mat does not behave like a regular seed packet, where germination is all at once, instead germination continues for up to 3 years.
Once germination starts, ‘prick out’ and transplant the seedlings into pots and grow on indoors or outdoors. When moving take as little soil as possible, as more seedlings will germinate and these too can be potted on.
In winter, leave the seed tray outside or in the fridge for 3 weeks, when the soil warms up, different species will germinate. To assist germination, bring it inside again each spring.
Sowing outdoor: The seed mat can be grown on any soil, wet or dry, semi shaded or in full sun. Place the seed mat on clean weed free ground and lightly sprinkle with water. Germination will start from 3 to 6 weeks, allow to flower, where planted.
After every summer, cut away the dead foliage and rake the soil, to scratch it. The seed mat can flower for many years.

Bluebell, Birdsfoot Trefoil, Black Meddick, Corn Chamomile, Corn Marigold, Corn Pansy, Corn Poppy, Cornflower, Cowslip, Devil's Bit Scabious, Field Scabious, Fleabane, Hedge Garlic Mustard, Lady's Bedstraw, Lesser Knapweed, Marjoram, Scented Mayweed, Meadowsweet, Mullein, Ox-eye Daisy, Purple Loosestrife, Ragged Robin, Red Campion, Sea Mayweed, St Johnswort, Water Avens,
