Wildflowers at the Battle of the Boyne

  Tourism and Tidy Town Section, Hotels, B&Bs, Green Tourism and how and where native flora can be sown to get those all important extra points for Tidy Towns

Wildflowers Sown on the battle field between February 07, 2002 and May 2003

Area to be sown 34  acres at 20% Flora and 80% Grass MM09.




Location: Oldbridge Estate, On the South bank of the River Boyne, 3km north of Donore Village off the L21. The site is sign-posted from off N51 (Slane/Drogheda), off N1 (Drogheda) and off N2 (Slane/Ashbourne). At present access to this site is not suitable to coaches. 

Opening arrangements: Daily, 1 May - 30 September, 10.00 - 18.00. Last admission 45 mins. before closing. Rest of year open to group bookings (of 10 or more). Advance bookings only. 

Admission charges: Free of charge. 

Guided Tours: Access by Guided Tour only. Tours available on request. Groups of 20 or more must pre-book. 

Max. no.: 40 

Duration: 30-45 mins. 

Facilities: Display of replica 17th century weaponry. Small car park. Toilet for visitors with disabilities. Outdoor picnic area. Optional self-guiding walks in Oldbridge Estate and Boyne Riverside Walkway. Living History every Sunday from June to September. 

As the tour is outdoors, visitors are advised to wear weather protective clothing and shoes suitable for walking on uneven terrain. Restricted access for visitors with disabilities. 

Deep-water caution: River and Canal.
